Subwatershed Basin Assessments: Herkimer, Oneida and Montgomery Counties

In June 2013, a severe precipitation event and subsequent flooding in Herkimer, Oneida and Montgomery Counties resulted in significant loss of infrastructure, property and human life.  As a result, the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) in consultation with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) retained Milone and MacBroom, Inc. (MMI) to undertake a comprehensive water basin assessment of thirteen watersheds in Herkimer, Oneida and Montgomery Counties and to provide flood hazard mitigation alternatives for each of these watersheds.  These reports were completed in April of 2014 and provided to the communities, municipal officials and community leaders at a series of public meetings held in each of the three counties.  The links for these reports are provided below:
